We have some super exciting news! Mark your calendars for April 27-28, 2024 because you do NOT want to miss this!

The first annual Alaska Homestead Expo is coming to the Big Lake Lions Club and it’s going to be EPIC!

Tickets are $65/person with kids under 18 FREE! Come as many days as you’d like and attend as many workshops as you want to. One ticket gives you admittance for the entire weekend. (Price excludes purchases in the vendor hall and food truck purchases.)

What will be happening at this Expo? I’m so glad you asked!

WORKSHOPS:

We will have several workshops, mini-workshops, and demonstrations including subjects like:

• gardening
• raising livestock for meat and/or milk
• fencing
• building a rocket stove
• predator control
• livestock guarding dog training
• starting an orchard
• beekeeping
• sourdough
• raising livestock for wool/fibers
• HAM Radio
• seed saving
• Metal forging
• the list goes on and on – this is just a small glimpse of what we are offering!

ICE CREAM SOCIAL AND SPEAKERS:

Saturday evening is our Ice Cream Social (featuring homemade ice cream from Big Dipper). This is like the crown jewel of the entire event and it’s included in your ticket price! Plan to stay through the evening and enjoy a time of fellowship and encouraging speakers. Click here for a full agenda for the Ice Cream Social. I promise, you’re going to LOVE it! We’re going to dig deep into sustainability in Alaska, we’re going to learn new homestead skills, and we’re going to build community.

One hint: We opted NOT to bring speakers in from the lower 48 but to dig deep and ask around and see who the wise people are here right in Alaska. Alaskans KNOW Alaskans – they GET Alaskans. So all speakers will be Alaskans who are living this lifestyle – the Lions Club will be filled with good, old-fashioned Alaska smarts!

Attend as many workshops as you want and attend as many days as you’d like. Each ticket is for the full event so you can attend every day if you’d like to! 

VENDORS:
We will have vendors for products and services that emphasize community building, sustainably living, and living the homestead lifestyle.

There will also be food trucks and coffee stands  with food and drink for purchase so plan to stay all day!

NOTE: This is an all-weather event and many of the workshops will be held outside so please dress accordingly.

Also, please keep your children with you at all times. We know there will be a lot going on but your kids should have a responsible party with them at all times.
