It’s that time again – time for our annual fall plant presale! Isn’t it so fun to get a jump start on planning your next garden and thinking about how you can feed you family nutrient dense foods right from your own property?
This year we’re doing something SUPER exciting that we’ve never done before! We still have our usual honeyberries and saskatoons, and strawberries but we’ve also added several new plants — even some perennial vegetables! We’re passionate about helping Alaskans grow their own food and this is a huge leap in that direction! We’ve added a new variety of strawberries, red and yellow raspberries, gooseberries, asparagus, caucasian mountain spinach, lovage and more! But first …. SASKATOON BERRIES!
Our Alaska hardy saskatoons are the absolute favorite berry on the farm, according to the farmer’s wife. 🙂 They look like a blueberry, but they taste more like a cross between an apple and a mild grape. They are Alaska hardy (down to zone 2) and will keep you in berries for years and years with proper care.
They make the BEST pies ever, although they are super yummy fresh, too.
The Alaska hardy saskatoon bush is best kept trimmed to 10′ so that the berries are reachable for everyone. They will produce a few berries in the second year and should be in full production in 5 years.
So, why should you preorder and not just wait until spring? There are several reasons to join our plant presale. For one, these plants always sell out early. This will guarantee that you can get the plants you want in the spring. Also, we offer a discount of $2 per plant just for buying in the fall. It’s a win/win!
Pickup will be on the farm in May of 2024. We will be emailing you to let you know exact pickup dates early spring so you can plan accordingly.
