🍓 IF YOU PREORDERED PLANTS:
Pickup will be May 10-12 from 10 am - 5 pm
No need to make an appointment, just come on out when we are open and grab your plants!

🍓 IF YOU DIDN'T PREORDER PLANTS - COME ON OUT ANYWAY!

Check out the farm and see what we have. The farm will also be open to the public all three days.

🍎🍎🍎 This will be your opportunity to grab an apple tree or two while you are here! Our apples were grafted last year and we wintered them over to make sure they are super hardy and happy for you! 🍎🍎🍎

➡️ However, in usual Common Ground Alaska style, we had to make it a bit of a party so we invited some friends, too! 😎

🍅 Hammond Urban Homestead will be here selling veggie plants and my friend 🪴 Lisa Worley will be bringing some gorgeous hanging flower baskets.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS - WE WILL SEE YOU THEN!

PS - it's not too late to preorder and make sure we have the plants you want. Click here to reserve your plants: commongroundalaska.com/product-category/plants-shrubs-trees-bushes/

A little bit off-topic this morning but I keep seeing how everyone is pushing AI for your content and to use ChatGPT and it's life changing and all that crap.

I do believe it's going to be life changing. But not in the way we anticipate or even want! The goal is to make it so you can't tell the difference between AI and a real human. Complete with complex thoughts and emotions and all.

Do we REALLY want that?

I was part of a conversation where he author shared that a company that had 10 copywriters fired 9 of them and only kept the one that is most adept at using ChatGPT. He said the words "PAY ATTENTION". A commenter added that "heart and soul are not necessary for content jobs". 🙈

Here was my reply. I would love to hear your thoughts:

"I am saddened at the phrase where you said heart and soul are “not necessary for content jobs”. I will never never never ever give any content writing over to AI for our business (and yes, the song ‘never say never’ is playing in the back of my head as I write this 🙈).

People who follow our farm want to talk to the farmer. Not a bot. They want to learn from the farmer. They want to engage with the farmer.

I automate plenty of things. Content will never be one of them.
I’m paying attention.

And the humans we deal with want real people."

Here's the deal. I want real words from a real farmer, real plants, real FOOD, and real people to sell to. This slope is slippery and I think if we keep going, we will be hard pressed to claw our way back when we realize this was a really, really bad idea.

Where was this? Love it! Would like to know where I can hear more. We miss the group that used to play at Vagabond Blues.

I enjoyed every second of it!

My kids ❤️

We have two parts of the Alaska Homestead Expo that are FREE to the public! Check out the details on the livestream and the bluegrass gospel jam session below.

PS - You don't need a ticket to participate in either of these! Just join us when you can!

We realize that not everyone can attend the expo in person so we're bringing part of the Expo to you!

FREE LIVESTREAM
Join us at 6:30 pm Saturday evening for the Keynote speaker session of the 2024 Alaska Homestead Expo. Original colony kid Barb Thomas, Josh Smith, and Jodie Anderson will be entertaining, educating, and encouraging us.

HINT: If you're an Expo attendee but can't stay into the evening - this is a great way to still participate! Don your jammies and enjoy!

Here's the link to join the livestream at 6:30 on Saturday evening: youtube.com/live/-CrMX4qjdD4?feature=share

BLUEGRASS GOSPEL JAM SESSION
We'd love to have you join us in person for our Gospel Jam Session on Sunday morning at 10 am, free of charge! Let's tap our toes and worship together! PLUS - as an added bonus, the vendor hall is open to the public on Sunday from noon - 4 pm as well! Upstairs at the Big Lake Lions Club. The classes are full but the Vendor hall has so much good stuff - we'd love to have the community join us!

*NOTE: There will NOT be Expo tickets available on Sunday - only the vendor hall is open to the public.

So there you go! Can't wait to see you all!

Is the keynote speaker session no longer being live streamed??

I attended the expo today and listened to some fabulous speakers and learned some valuable information! I hope this happens again next year. Thanks!!
