A little bit off-topic this morning but I keep seeing how everyone is pushing AI for your content and to use ChatGPT and it's life changing and all that crap.
I do believe it's going to be life changing. But not in the way we anticipate or even want! The goal is to make it so you can't tell the difference between AI and a real human. Complete with complex thoughts and emotions and all.
Do we REALLY want that?
I was part of a conversation where he author shared that a company that had 10 copywriters fired 9 of them and only kept the one that is most adept at using ChatGPT. He said the words "PAY ATTENTION". A commenter added that "heart and soul are not necessary for content jobs". 🙈
Here was my reply. I would love to hear your thoughts:
"I am saddened at the phrase where you said heart and soul are “not necessary for content jobs”. I will never never never ever give any content writing over to AI for our business (and yes, the song ‘never say never’ is playing in the back of my head as I write this 🙈).
People who follow our farm want to talk to the farmer. Not a bot. They want to learn from the farmer. They want to engage with the farmer.
I automate plenty of things. Content will never be one of them.
I’m paying attention.
And the humans we deal with want real people."
Here's the deal. I want real words from a real farmer, real plants, real FOOD, and real people to sell to. This slope is slippery and I think if we keep going, we will be hard pressed to claw our way back when we realize this was a really, really bad idea. ... See MoreSee Less

Join us at 6:30 pm Saturday evening for the Keynote speaker session of the 2024 Alaska Homestead Expo. Original colony kid Barb Thomas, Josh Smith, and Jodie Anderson will be entertaining, educating, and encouraging us.

BLUEGRASS GOSPEL JAM SESSION
We'd love to have you join us in person for our Gospel Jam Session on Sunday morning at 10 am, free of charge! Let's tap our toes and worship together! PLUS - as an added bonus, the vendor hall is open to the public on Sunday from noon - 4 pm as well! Upstairs at the Big Lake Lions Club. The classes are full but the Vendor hall has so much good stuff - we'd love to have the community join us!
*NOTE: There will NOT be Expo tickets available on Sunday - only the vendor hall is open to the public.

Tell me about the hog processing. Is each time slot covering the same thing or does it span all those time slots because it takes the entire day to cover?
So so excited for the two day pig butchering class by Hand Hewn Farm this weekend! Learn salt, smoke, and dry curing as well as how render lard (leaf lard and regular) plus the cuts of pork.
One thing I love about this class is that the information is so cool for processing most any animal, even wildlife! The cuts would be different but the curing and rendering are all the same process.
This course alone is worth the price of the Expo ticket!
The course takes the full two days. Saturday is from 9-6 and Sunday is noon-4. Lots to pack in but they are sure good at what they do!
So excited for this!
